Absolutely loved the decor, every room is named after a novel and decor is themed by novels. Most beautiful hotel and Steve and his team were lovely. Also, nice toiletries in en suite and the breakfast was delicious.

I was born in Portland and the purpose of the visit was to see family so I am very familiar with the island but there are some beautiful places of interest in and around the island. Even if you do not wish to drive there is a very good public service and also trains

Portland was easy to get to on the bus (No 1) from the train station. There is a stop just over the road but not clearly marked, you can pick up the bus from the Kings Head Statue as well ( walk down to the seafront , turn right and it’s the last bus stop).
Portland was interesting with different scenery for our walk, which included Portland Bill and old quarries. Our visit was Monday / Tuesday evening and we had no car. I would suggest booking a restaurant/ pub if you want to eat on Portland. The Cove House Inn ( closed Monday ) and the Little Ship ( closed Tuesday) are good options. We took the bus to Weymouth Harbour ( get off at the Magistrates Court stop), there are lots of eating places and nice for a walk round.

unusual place with a mixture of terrain .
unusual place with a mixture of terrain . The beach is quite something on a sunny day and well worth a visit along with the Portland Bill lighthouse where we were lucky enough to see a Seal . I would certainly recommend a visit which also has the benefit of Weymouth a 10-15 minute drive away. Local People we spoke to seemed genuinely funny and helpful.

Even though it has quite limited options of where to eat in the island, for climbers it is a lovely place to go. A lot of the beaches I know from there are pebbled one so bring suitable footwear so your feet do not hurt. This is the second time (always in Sep) I come to this part of Dorset, I discover something knew evert time.

We visited Portland to go on a Sailing trip on Moonfleet.
We visited Portland to go on a Sailing trip on Moonfleet. Great experience and a fun day.
Restaurants were limited in the area. Salt is near the harbour but card only and expensive. The Cove Inn is beautiful, gorgeous setting to watch the sunset.
A trip to Portland Bill is a must whilst visiting, stunning views.
There are places of interest in Castletown with the D-Day museum and Castle just around the corner.

Scenic with lovely coastal views.
Scenic with lovely coastal views. If you like cliffs and walking or visiting lighthouses, it's great. We didn't get on to Chesil beach - couldnt quite work it out.
The cafe we found was really expensive!!
The overall feel was more a professional hotel than a property. The view from the communal balcony is beautiful. It’s well situated in the isle of Portland. The room (no. 6) and amenities were amazing.
Mark and Jo, the owners, are super friendly and welcoming people. There is a diverse range of breakfast options which is cooked at your desired breakfast time.
It is indeed a highly recommended town to visit as well as this property especially Mark and Jo.
The room was very clean and we had excellent view from the room. We could see the harbor and sea from 2 sides of the room. The room size was reasonably good size. The breakfast was very good and we all enjoyed. Number of parking was limited, so we had to park on the road just next to the Hotel. There was a paid parking on back of the hotel which was reasonable price and free from 6pm-8am. The location was very close to the Chesil Beach and Portland Castle.
Very clean and modern. Good use of space. Parking immediately outside the property. Outside tap for washing off muddy / sandy footwear etc. Pet free is important for us. Immaculately clean. Well equipped. Modern, functional furniture.
Warm. Lots of information provided about places to eat. We went to the nearest seafront pub and enjoyed a lovely meal - so nice to have this as a close by stroll.
Great location as about 5 minute walk from the beach and you get some awesome views of the sunset from the main bedroom.
Really nice cottage with everything we needed for a long weekend and suitable for kids. Met the owner and he was very nice. Well looked after property and a great location for getting to see the rest of portland and surrounding areas. Would recommend
Our contact was Cat, she could not have been more helpful and friendly. She met us at the property, was the main contact and she cooked the daily breakfast to order. It was a perfect place to stay if you are walking around Portland. The bus stop ( to and from Weymouth) is nearby and the SW costal path easily accessible. There is a carpark nearby but we didn’t need it.
We re very familiar with Portland, and the location of the hotel is ,in our opinion , the best on the island. Its views over the Fleet , Chesil beach and Portland are stunning.
All the members of staff we came into contact with were unfailingly efficient and very welcoming.
We enjoyed breakfast and dinner and both were delicious.
My partner came with me to make deliveries in and around Poole and Devon. As it was holiday season finding somewhere to stop was proving hard but we found this gem! Although it is near the Quarry there was a coastal walk and beach to walk along. Staff were more than helpful and very friendly, thank you.
We had a great time at Sally Hall. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Portland was really interesting. The highlights were Chesil beach and seeing the signets at Abbotsbury Swannery and the weather which was amazing. Check in was easy and communication was helpful and prompt.
Mark & Jo was very polite and made me feel very welcome. The hotel was lovely. Breakfast was nice. Would love to stay on my future visits. Best property I have ever stayed in Weymouth/Portland in all the 15 years that I have been going.
View from the dining area was fantastic, watching the Sunset was even better. Room was very good, very clean, no problems at all. Breakfast was also very good, plenty to eat. Plenty of parking space. Staff were all very helpful.
This was a lovely winter break for myself and cockapoo. We walked the island on the Saturday and then stayed overnight. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the hotel is really dog friendly.
Friendly staff. Good size room and bed. Food excellent. Breakfast chef helpful. Unusual building but lovely outlook. Dog friendly and Bruce is lush. A stylish hotel inside.
Lovely location with views of the lighthouse from our bedroom window. Freshly decorated and very spacious. Breakfast was good and waitress on dinner service was fantastic👍
